As you might have read in other places on the web (here, here or here), it seems that Solar Cycle 24 is finally underway and it seems forecasters were more or less right, when they forecasted the minimum for March 2008.

Yesterday, a magnetically reversed sunspot popped up on the sun, marking the start of the new Solar Cycle… However, in August 2006, similar things happened, so don’t be too enthusiastic . And even if it really is the start of the new cycle… Don’t expect wonders, as the maximum is expected for 2011/2012.

Let’s hope the best and keep our fingers crossed…
