Comet 96P/Machholz can be seen on SOHO images as it flies by the sun. Comets usually brighten up when they fly by the sun. This also happens with Machholz. Not as strong as Comet McNaught so you won’t be able to see it with your bare eyes but SOHO is capable to “see” it.
