Snail Mail Spam!

Have I ever mentioned that I hate spam? I guess not but it is pretty “normal” that people hate spam. ok… Email Spam is nothing new… Blog and Guestbook spam neither… but snail mail spam? This was something new to me.

Today I had a letter from a company “Registration Services Incorporated” respectively “Domain Registry of America” stating that the domain “ham-blogs.net” will expire January 19, 2007 and they urge me (reply requested by August 28) to renew my domain.

Contact address has been extracted from whois-data. Therefore… :spammer:

Had one of them years ago for website I ran. Just make sure you ignore and renew the domain in time.

Makes a change getting real spam instead of email spam. Wonder how much there postage bill is and how much of a result they get.

My old defunct domain ran out in 2003, so must be doing something right/wrong to still be going.

It’s already in the trash …

In fact it would be interesting to know if they make money with that… But obviously yes… There are too many people around who are “frightened” by letters like this. At least the highlighted the phrase “this notice is not a bill” but probably a lot of people don’t read it and just “pay”.

This is similar to Phising. It should not work as it requires a substantial amount of “user interaction”… But probably a lot of people don’t turn on their brain while using the internet… :?
