Skype is giving away Skype-Out minutes … Each Thursday in August you can receive 20 skype-out minutes by just logging into your account and clicking a button. Downside: It only applies to Skype users in the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Poland. 
1. On Thursday 3 rd August 2006, Thursday 10 th August 2006, Thursday 17 th August 2006, Thursday 24 th August 2006 and Thursday 31 st August 2006, (the ” Promotional Days “), Skype users from the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden , and Poland (the “Participating Countries “) shall be entitled to receive a gift of approximately 20 minutes of SkypeOut calls (the “Gift”).

update: It seems to a Tuesday… as this Thurday nothing was available. Additionally, in the mail they send me it also said Tuesday… Ohh well… At least I got 10 minutes out of that

Yeah! Wonder why they do this… Probably to make Skype-Out more popular…
Some of their rates are pretty good, but some are very expensive so it makes sense checking the price of the destination before calling e.g. Mexico City 0.02c, rest of Mexico 0.08c (with a few exceptions).

Probably because they competing with fixed line and mobile services so they have to make using the internet for telephone look attractive, guess offering free call-time is one way of giving it more appeal ïŠ
Plus there normal charges like you say are pretty dam good.

Hey! Does anyone know if this promotion is on thursdays or tuesdays? I’m a bit confused as it says Tuesdays but then it specifies the day of the month and it says thurdays?!

I initially put Tuesday (I changed it now to Thursday to have it consistent) as I redeemed my coupon on Tuesday but you are right! In the Skype text it says Thursday… So better check on Tuesday and Thursday. Maybe also Wednesdays… Who knows what they are doing
