First security hole in Internet Explorer 7 discovered
SCNR …
Secunia has released a security bulletin which describes a security hole in the newly released Internet Explorer 7. The bug is rated as less critical but can lead to disclosure of sensitive information… hmm… not bad for being just one day on the “market”
.
According to Secunia this hole is still unpatched and applies to a fully patched Windows XP with SP2. You can test your browser here.
Update 20.10.06: According to Microsoft (see this blog-entry) the issue is related to a component in Outlook Express. A patch for Windows XP is being developed while the hole is already fixed in Windows Vista. IMHO this does not change much for the customer – additionally the trigger is still the internet explorer.
