Ham radio always was populist--but actively requested all comers seek improvement in technical matters. It wasn't about yacking, but about experiencing and getting more out of it. Now it's mostly like what the 60's stereotype fo CB was--somewhat cretinistic. And outdated. Of course there are still a few who see it the old way, and seek to improve, and encourage others to improve. They are the ones worth emulating. But they are the minority nowadays.

Ham radio may be 'come as you are', but it isn't 'stay as you are'

Oh yes ham radio sucks a big one!!! Nothing but know it all ass holes. Some are better than others and dont mind telling you so. Nothing but jerks on the uhf/vhf bands. Licensed c.b opporators with nothing to do but talk shit about each other behind each others backs. Yes, I am a ham but I dont care to even turn my equipment on any more.
If you really want to see big assholes in ham, just go to orlando and join the oarc. If they dont like you they will tell lies about you that they all believe. Orlando oarc is the biggest bunch of fuck tards there is.
Then there's the cost of getting into the hobby...get ready to get bent over and dont expect a kiss or even a reach around.
Thats just from the dealers...hams will fuck hams all day long, ripping each other off for equipment or what ever they can fuck each other for. The cost of new ham gear is beyond stupid. Then you have to deal with the manufactur's bullshit if your NEW rig dumps on ya.
They think the consumer is stupid and treats them so.
If you want to get into ham radio...try shooting yourself in the foot first, it'll feel alot better. It'll certanly cost ya alot less.

HAM RADIO SUCKS!!! IT IS NOT A RELAXING HOBBY. IT'S VERY EXPENSIVE AND TOO MANY OF THE PEOPLE ARE OXYGEN WASTING TURDS.

Ham Radio has something for everyone, from the lowly retard to the lofty elitist. I never met a ham that didn't have something wrong with him, from physical to mental. It is a lot like society at large.

It is true that 99% of all the dumb asses in 75 have been hams for years. Some say the code drove the crazy. Even retards can learn code.

I am a ham and the hobby does not suck. There are going to be people who are rude and act retarded anywhere you go. Just don't hang with them or avoid them.
I have met some wonderful people on the radio and will meet even more as time goes on.
As for getting flamed in some of the user groups been there and done that. I just deleted my account. 99% of them don't know a darn thing. So I was better off finding out my own solutions to problems or asking a few hams that I know are experienced and they are more than willing to help.
The good old 75 meter band is a great place if you are careful who you hang out with. Lets face it it is a very easy band to get on and it has good propagation most of the time.
Combine that with a retard with a mic and a wire at 30 feet and a small amp and its nothing but a bad experience. If you listen to him...WHY? . Don't listen.
You see there is the good the bad on 20 and 40 and the down right ugly on 75.LOL
I am not going to let a few assholes stop me from enjoying the hobby.
As for the morse code dumbing down ham radio. No 99% of all the dumb asses in 75 have been hams for years...LOL

Yes, I am also a HAM and I'm leaving the hobby now because of the " About 99% of HAMS are retarded when not behind a mic." Just look at eham.net or any HAM radio forum, nasty comments etc. I also joined a HAM radio related group on yahoo and the same there, I asked a question and got a few good responses and many nasty comments. I have been a HAM for about 30 years or so and I am just happy to leave it and want to warn folks to go in to the hobby. Please have a look at the responses to any article written on eham.net or if a HAM asks a question in a HAM forum/group. He or she will get flammed and called a lot of stuff including -you should have your licens revoked etc. I also agree that many HAMs a fat (this is really mostly in the US) and also socially problems (see the forums)...I have loved the hobby but man...the negatives are way to many. Also listen to some of the QSO on 75meter... guys talking to each other like they were sitting on a pub after 10 beers. I have also heard stories about newcomers that have not done the morse code tests are not treated right...HAMs are even turning away from them. YES this is how HAM radio is about in the US today.
